The ACAM Great Lombok Walk – Day 2

Hi all, sorry for no post yesterday. A bit hot and a bit tired. I started at 3:40 from Sugian stopping to rest at 13.5km. Next rest was at 10am at the “historical trees” which were truly majestic. I have never seen anything like them (hence the photo😜) after well earned Es kelapa muda ( a sweet fresh coconut drink) it was back on the road.

The very very hot road with lots of big trucks and traffic to make it even hotter. As I stopped for a quick breather (the road was so hot it was making it hard to breathe) a car filled with angels arrived! Icha, my beautiful daughter in law and her lovely family arrived with bags of ice, frozen edamame and lots of encouragement. They certainly came at a very welcome time.

On again until my target of 33 km at Laburan Lombok. Thank you to the Green Hayaq for supplying our accommodation. Day 2 done and dusted.

Cheers, Fi the crazy nomad 👣👣👣

The first day of the ACAM GREAT LOMBOK WALK

SATURDAY FIRST OF OCT. 2016 – The first day of the ACAM GREAT LOMBOK WALK started at 5am when I started pumped and energised, reached 10km at 7am. The 20 km mark came at 9:30. After that the road, hills and increased heat, reaching 37degrees made such a hard slog. I stopped for a quick visit of 2 disabled children, brother and sister which was a good reminder of why I am doing this. I will be back to see these little lovelies and I will bring a mattress with me because now they just lay on a straw mat all day. Their minds as Sharp as a pin, they love reading😊

I had a long rest in a Baluga ( roadside shelter) to try to cool down at the 31km mark. This was my target for the day but I did another( not quickly) 1.5km before calling it a day. I have decided it’s best to start tomorrow at 4am. During my walk I was thinking a lot of a special person who is no longer with us but I am pretty sure he was with me today. Thank you Dan Quinn for guiding me today.
